Our Studio

Modern heirlooms.
Designed and crafted in New York.

Odette New York is a sculptural jewelry line by designer and founder Jennifer Sarkilahti, created for women who value objects with presence, permanence, and intention. Each piece begins as a hand-carved wax model and is cast into recycled metals, translating the language of sculpture into wearable form. The result is jewelry that lives at the intersection of art and craft, shaped through a process of thinking in material and form.

Trained as a painter and holding a Master of Fine Arts from George Mason University, Sarkilahti approaches jewelry through the lens of a fine artist. Her early practice was grounded in studio experimentation before evolving into the intimate scale of lost-wax casting. This shift from artwork to object continues to define Odette New York, where each piece reflects a sculptor’s attention to weight, balance, and surface.

For Sarkilahti, jewelry is a form of sculpture meant to be worn and inhabited. The transformation from soft wax to solid metal creates pieces designed to age with the wearer, gathering memory, marking time, and retaining a trace of the hand that made them.

In 2019, after fifteen years in Brooklyn, the studio moved to a converted barn in the Hudson Valley. The landscape informs the rhythm of the work, grounding the brand in a slower, more deliberate approach to design and production. Collections evolve through limited seasonal releases alongside a permanent signature line, balancing ongoing exploration with enduring forms.

Since its founding, Odette New York has earned recognition for its distinctive balance of art and wearability. The work has been worn by women across culture and leadership, including Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Ana de Armas, Issa Rae, and Tracee Ellis Ross, and has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Architectural Digest, Elle, Porter, InStyle, and Marie Claire.

Our Values

Sustainability.

In an effort to maintain a small environmental footprint, we work with artisans and family-run businesses local to NYC for our casting and manufacturing. Our jewelry is made by hand in small batches from recycled materials like high polish Brass, Sterling Silver, and 14K Gold.

Our Sterling Silver and 14K gold is made from 100% SCS Global certified recycled metals while our Brass is made from a high percentage of recycled materials. This method of recycling material is a way to practice a more sustainable model for casting metals.

Giving Back.

We believe in diversity and inclusion as well as giving back to the community by regularly donating a portion of our sales for social impact. A few of the organizations we’ve supported: Girl’s Inc, ACLU, Loveland Foundation, Crafting the Future, and Food Bank of NYC.
